At Yum!, were looking for a Data Platform Architect to add to our dynamic and rapidly scaling team. Were making this investment to help us optimize our digital channels and technology innovations with the end goal of creating competitive advantages for our restaurants around the globe. Were looking for an individual to plan and build platform components and tools in our cloud environment to support this initiative who brings fresh ideas from past experiences and is eager to tackle new challenges in our company.
Were in search of a candidate who knows about, and loves working with, all aspects of the data lifecycle in AWS using cloud-native tools. Candidates must also be proficient with data programming languages (e.g., Python and SQL). This person will architect and improve on our data and advanced analytics platform - with the intent of elevating the customer experience and driving revenue and profit growth in our restaurants globally.
Job Duties
As a Data Platform Architect, you will:
Architect our cloud-native data platform in AWS with responsibilities ranging from ingestion, processing, storage, access, provisioning and more
Determine the appropriate tools ranging from cloud agnostic (some open source, some SaaS) solutions to AWS managed services that strike the balance of scalability, ease of maintenance, and cost
Serve as the teams expert in understanding how the components of the platform fit together. From ingestion, processing, and storage of data through to developing and operationalizing data science models, reporting market results to management, and provisioning data for other brands and partners
Establish guidelines on when to use certain technologies over their counterparts, including internally publishing and updating these guidelines in Confluence
Manage engagements with vendor partners to ensure their solutions are in line with our overall design
Rapidly evaluate emerging technologies and determine how they will, or wont, fit into our environment
Communicate technical concepts, innovations, and hurdles up to management as well as out to stakeholders in a clear, concise manner
Contribute to the design of scalable data integration frameworks to move and transform a variety of large data sets
Develop and maintain global data models across different domains
Rapidly evaluate new technologies, concepts, and libraries to determine if they fit into our environment
Minimum Qualifications
Proven track record of architecting a data platform in AWS; should be an expert in AWS services, particularly the infrastructure, storage, and access components
Background in data with experience in architecture, data modeling and data engineering across database and object storage platforms
High level of proficiency with Snowflake or similar DBMS solution
Ability to present and defend the architecture to stakeholders across all our brands and regions
Deep experience with an ETL tool or custom framework required
Understanding of Python & Spark, including commonly used libraries for processing data
Working knowledge of agile development, including DevOps concepts (IaC, CI/CD, etc.)
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or relevant experience
