Enterprise Finance drives financial management for the company and maintains and enhances risk and financial controls. Key functions within Enterprise Finance include finance and accounting; Treasury; corporate development, mergers, and acquisitions; Data Management and Insights, the Customer Remediation Center of Excellence, Enterprise Shared Services, Business Process Management, and Corporate Strategy. Enterprise Finance informs shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the companys financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines. They also maintain and enhance risk and financial controls and lead many of the companys shared services functions including corporate properties, security, and global services.

The Investment Portfolio

The Wells Fargo Investment Portfolio (IP) manages the Companys Available-For-Sale (AFS) and Held-To-Maturity (HTM) securities and loan portfolios, and the Reinsurance and Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) businesses as part of the Enterprise Finance group. IP also provides strategic and analytical balance sheet support to the bank as well as a centralized, street-facing trade execution and hedging function for the enterprise. The Investment Portfolio consists of:

* Credit Investment Portfolio (CIP): Responsible for the evaluation of credit-driven investment opportunities across a broad spectrum of asset backed securities, municipal bonds, and corporate transactions
* Macro Investment Portfolio (MIP): Responsible for maintaining a portfolio of fixed income investments to achieve liquidity, interest rate risk management, and capital management objectives on behalf of Corporate Asset/Liability Committee
* Portfolio Strategy and Analytics and Infrastructure (PSAI): Responsible for managing IPs analytics, including stress testing, sensitivity analytics, and optimizing investment decision making within capital, liquidity and risk management constraints. The team also provides standardized processes and tools for use across IP.
* Trading: Street-facing trading desk with the ability to offer coordinated execution of all cash and derivatives trades for the portfolio, as well as for other key partners within Wells Fargo
* Reinsurance and Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) businesses and a central business application team

The Structured Products team, part of CIP, is responsible for investment in CLOs, CMBS, and other asset-backed securities. The team identifies potential investments in both the primary and secondary marketplace, evaluates the most appropriate opportunities, and partners with Trading to ensure best execution. The Structured Products team is responsible for the ongoing surveillance and monitoring of those investments, reporting on its holdings to both internal and external stakeholders. The team uses its experience and knowledge surrounding financial markets, technology development, product ownership, and project management to continuously deliver compelling value to the Investment Portfolio.

He/she will partner closely with the LOB, Trading, and Wells Fargo Credit professionals to perform investment analysis on both existing and prospective Structured Product investments. He/she must develop relationships with strategic partners (e.g. Operations, Accounting, Finance, Control), as well as peers to align interests and work to achieve set goals. He/she must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and manage competing interests, as well as represent the portfolios interests in a positive manner.

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

* Assisting more senior Structured Credit Analysts and Portfolio Managers in the formulation of investment recommendations, while developing the structuring and research skills relevant to the investment decision-making process. Asset classes include CLOs, CMBS, consumer ABS, and other structured products.
* Partnering internally with Wholesale credit, market risk, technology, operations, controllers and various audit and examining groups to design and implement processes, systems and controls.
* Preparing and reviewing annual and quarterly reports as appropriate for the business.

Required Qualifications
* 1+ year of investment research experience

Other Desired Qualifications
* 1+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: Fixed Income Capital Markets Buy-Side, Sell-Side, or Trading (ideally in CLO, CMBS or consumer ABS products); Fixed Income Research; or investment banking.
* Bachelor degree or higher in finance, economics, accounting or related field with a strong interest in capital markets, investment management, portfolio strategy
* Experience with various valuation techniques for financial products and modeling of interest rate, spread, and convexity risk
* Experience in asset-backed, structured finance, or structured debt transactions; Qualitative or quantitative structuring credit skills
* Transaction or structuring experience with a major investment bank, reputable hedge fund, or specialty finance firm
* Expertise in banking industry accounting, regulatory, capital, and compliance requirements for a large portfolio of AFS (Available for Sale) and HTM (Held to Maturity) investments
* Passion for researching complex issues, distilling information into concise presentations and offering actionable resolutions
* Advanced proficiency with analytics tools (Excel, SQL, R, Python) and 3rd party fixed income models/systems (Polypaths, Intex, QRM, AdCo, Calypso, Bloomberg)
* Understanding of financial mathematics and models. Could include, OAS framework, Monte Carlo simulation, LMM model, interest rate derivatives models and mortgage analytics
* Experience analyzing, modeling, valuing and forecasting fixed income securities within at least one asset class (Municipal Bonds, Structured Products, mortgage backed securities, US Treasury Bonds, interest rate swaps, etc.)
