The Junior Global POS Systems Engineers role is to actively integrate and support a third-party Point of Sale (POS) application into the organizations information systems throughout the Sherwin-Williams International Group. This position will work with internal and external technical teams to evaluate, implement, manage and support POS hardware and networking solutions for the International community to reduce OPEX and increase sales.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning
Support hardware and networking evaluation and integration projects between technical units, development teams and third-party hardware and network suppliers.
Analyze and assess existing technical systems, process, procedures and support structure.
Install and support the integration of POS hardware, software and network solutions into new or existing systems throughout the enterprise.
Ensure that hardware and network integration projects fulfill end-user requirements and identify and resolve system issues.
Ensure that hardware and network integration practices are aligned with strategic business goals and the companys overall strategic vision while keeping a global theme for consistency.
Support business continuity, helpdesk and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executables and respond to crises in accordance with each applicable plan.

Acquisition & Deployment
Conduct research on, and make recommendations for, hardware products in support of procurement and development efforts.
Collaborate with analysts, designers and system owners in the testing of newly integrated hardware programs and applications to support POS.
Support integration testing phase of hardware solutions in order to identify and remedy potential problem areas.
Perform hardware and software improvements and upgrades.
Actively engage with deployment of company servers and other networking hardware including routers, switches, UPSs and other related hardware.

Operational Management
Deliver required hardware service levels according to company policies.
Liaise with, and provide training and support to, end users and staff on equipment operation and other issues.
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user and network hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, and other POS products.
Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user software and networking software products.
Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex hardware problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding hardware problems.
Document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
Support hardware and equipment contracts and supervise contract-based installations.
If necessary, liaise with third-party support and equipment vendors.
Perform hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
Support technical specifications and polling scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.
Actively involved with configuration of networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
Actively involved with monitoring network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
Actively involved with ensuring network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
Actively involved with supporting servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
Actively participate in supporting all network security solutions.
Support server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.

Incidental Functions

Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work.
Travel globally approximately 30% of the time should be expected during peak project cycles.
Work outside the standard office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will be required on a regular basis to meet, participate in conference calls, etc., based on foreign time zone requirements during peak project cycles.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience
0-1 years IT experience.
Technical knowledge of corporate hardware, networking and POS hardware and peripherals.
Comprehensive understanding of hardware troubleshooting.
Competence in supporting production POS hardware platforms and imaging for use in staging store rollout systems.
Technical knowledge of current Microsoft operating systems, network protocols, and internet standards.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Good understanding of store operations end-user needs and requirements.
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM.
Experience with POS peripheral device drivers, file polling software, VMware, remote desktop support software, Apache web server, and batch file or scripting languages preferred but not required.
Equipment support experience with POS hardware platforms and corporate data systems as well as store and corporate networking hardware preferred.
Experience with LAN and WAN support and general network management best practices preferred.
Experience with relational database using Oracle and SQL preferred.
Knowledgeable on PCI technology, transaction processing, and related retail standards preferred.
Multilingual capabilities preferred (Spanish and/or Portuguese).
