Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer
For over 50 years, SCIs Defense & Aerospace Division has been a leading provider of defense and aerospace electronics design and manufacturing services. From tactical communications systems to airborne communications and information processing, we deliver high-reliability solutions that keep our first responders and war-fighters connected and protected in the field. We are currently recruiting highly qualified candidates, whose background and career goals meet our needs, for the following position in our Huntsville, AL facility. Please note that due to our Department of Defense contract requirements, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.
Job Purpose:
Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequences and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies while providing production engineering support services directly to manufacturing.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
* Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in contract manufacturing plant: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
* Support assembly process (drive manufacturing process improvements, general troubleshooting, and corrective actions) for new and existing product lines
* Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
* Ensures internal and external customer assembly requirements are understood and effectively communicated to the manufacturing organization via the development, review, and implementation of manufacturing process documentation.
* Capable of thinking quickly and reacting to customer issues, understanding internal standard operating procedures (SOP) and industry standard specifications (IPC, AS, etc) related to PCB/PCBA assembly.
* Providing support for all related areas of manufacturing (Production, MRB, RMA, CAR, etc) while focusing on the customer to continually improve customer satisfaction by providing high quality products in a timely manner.
* Serve as a central resource with the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and product development groups; as the product(s) move to completion and distribution.
* Actively participate in a cross-functional team environment with effective communication skills, using strong problem solving skills and making sound technical decisions based on experience, knowledge and logical thinking.
* Provides engineering support to other departments, as needed; working in conjunction with coworkers, including junior engineers and techs, and perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Candidate must be a US Citizen
2 years minimum engineering experience; preferably in Electronics Manufacturing
Bachelors degree in Engineering
Strong computer skills to include MS Office Suite, CAD/ CAM tools. SolidWorks considered a plus.
Solid written/verbal business communication skills.
