Job Description:
Responsible for the planning, layout, setup, operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of major conventional or automatic machines. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. Checks and inspects and builds machining operations against specified tolerances. May include work with fabrication, sheet metal operations, or machine hardware and assemblies. May also make recommendations concerning use of and improvement upon materials and design.
Essential Functions:
* Set-up and/or operate variety of machine tools such as CNC Mills and Lathe, manual lathes, manual mills, drill press, brake and shear.
* Will measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay-out stock for machining.
* Fits and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and determine material, parts and equipment required.
* Monitor and verify parts and procedures in accordance with statistical process and/or other control procedures.
* Establish and maintain successful relations with Engineering and Planning departments.
Qualifications:
* Some travel may be required.
* High School diploma or GED
* Ability to set-up and run all equipment in the machine shop, with the skill to help others with set-up and operation of equipment and procedures as needed.
* Must be able to read, check and make edits and additions to CNC programs when necessary.
* Must have 5 Axis Machining experience.
* Identify and find solutions to machining problems and procedures.
* Reading/interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
* Make standard machine shop computations relating to tooling, feeds and speeds.
* Must have good people skills - communication and engagement with all departments.
* Sheet metal and fabrication experience is a plus.
* Must have ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
* Must be able to work overtime.
* Vocational education a plus.
Preferred Additional Skills:
* 5S and Lean manufacturing knowledge is a plus.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance.
