Job Description

The Senior Communications Designer, under the Program Director, Creative Communications, is responsible for design and development of visual solutions that maintain MD Andersons brand and visual identity. The Senior Communications Designer coordinates print and digital media projects and professional photoshoots as needed. The main focus of this position is creative design support for a wide range of institutional projects and constituents. The job requires independent planning and problem-solving skills and high levels of productivity, ensuring that multiple jobs on tight deadlines are handled efficiently and on time. Must possess the ability to work independently but to also take creative direction and collaborate as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the Adobe creative applications such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience using Scratch would be a plus.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Creative/Visual Design:

* Supports a wide range of design requests for professional digital and print projects from a variety of audiences across the institution.
* Consults with clients, counsels on brand standards and delivers turn-key professional designs that strictly adhere to MD Andersons visual identity.

Art Direction and Production:

* Works with printing professionals and conducts press checks as needed.
* Serves as liaison between clients and vendors.
* Schedules and art directs photo shoots when necessary.

Strategic Brand Support and Counseling:

* Possesses thorough knowledge of brand policies and standards.
* Provides support and information to internal and external customers related to brand inquiries and requests.
* Manages brand-specific promotional vendor communications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field.

Experience

Required: Five years of experience in graphic design, public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. May substitute required degree with additional years of equivalent experience or education on a one to one basis.
