Performs laboratory procedures in an entry-level capacity in accordance with standard procedures. Gain knowledge of department operations and procedures. Works under direct supervision and with more experienced Cytogenetic Technologists.
The shift for this position is Monday -- Friday, 10:00am -- 6:30pm.
Job Responsibilities:
* Performs routine Cytogenetics procedures and FISH procedures
* Manual processing of specimens
* Automated karyotyping procedures
* FISH bench tasks including sample processing and setup
* Cytogenetics bench tasks including harvest, slide preparation, banding, and tissue culture setup
* Follow prescribed procedures for banding and special stains
* Reagent preparation by documented procedures
* Perform quality control
* Documents daily performance criteria of reagents and equipment
* Maintenance of stock solutions and proper labeling of reagents
Requirements
* BS/BA in Biology or relatable life science to include completion of 16 credit hours of Biology, 16 credit hours of Chemistry, and 3 credit hours of math
* Technologist Trainee positions do not require a year of experience
* Cytogenetic experience 1 year of clinical OR clinical lab experience is preferred
* ASCP Certification Preferred
* Must complete and pass color blind test
* Detail oriented and organized
* Team player with a positive attitude
* Computer skills
* Willingness to work overtime as needed
