GDIT is seeking an open-source web-application developer to join our Administrative Systems Office (ASO) Administrative Office (AO) US Courts team for a variety of existing and new software projects.
Projects use a mix of technologies, specifically PHP, MySQL/MariaDB under Apache on Linux or Windows. Projects may also use MSSQL, Oracle, Informix and other databases. APIs are used extensively - both APIs created, hosted and served by the open source projects and consumed by them.
On the front-end, jQuery is used throughout, and a desire for skills with vue.js specifically or transferable equivalent client libraries such as Angular or React. A well-rounded experience with HTML and CSS, including pre-processors is expected.
Version control experience using GIT is strongly preferred, or an equivalent similar tool. Any experience of infrastructure and server management is beneficial, and a basic ability to connect to, navigate and run commands under linux is expected.
An understanding of web-application security and testing practices is preferred, including penetration testing, static code analysis and load testing. Experience of 508 compliance implementation and front-end testing such as page speed tests and browser compliance testing is useful. Experience with automated scripted testing using Selenium, Jmeter or similar is beneficial.
Projects are managed in an agile environment, and experience of JIRA or similar project tracking tools is helpful.
The candidate will perform against all phases of the software development lifecycle including analyzing user/business needs and functionality through to planning and executing software systems to meet those needs.
The candidate should expect taskings to include some reporting on software project specifications, activities, and status, as well some some documentation tasks.
Candidate should expect to work on both small team and solo projects, with supervision.
