Job Description

The mission for the Computer Vision team at Facebook AI is to innovate ways for machines to understand photos and videos and provide the metadata, tools and platforms for hundreds of product groups. We are a cross-functional organization of Engineers and Research Scientists working closely with Product Managers, Designers and Data Scientists to push the frontiers of AI research and shipping the technologies to billions of people through Facebooks family of apps and new hardware initiatives. We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering with both research experience as well as experience in shipping technologies to real products.

Director, Software Engineering - Facebook AI Responsibilities

* Lead multiple teams developing video understanding technologies

* Collaborate with Video product teams and develop technology strategy for video understanding

* Coordinate with other AI organizations like FAIR and AI Infra to build strong research and system bridges

* Continue to grow the research and engineering culture and grow the organization

Minimum Qualifications

* Ph.D or equivalent research experience in AI specifically in the areas of Computer Vision, Speech, and/or NLP

* 5+ years of people management experience in multi-disciplinary global teams at the intersection of research and product, including building performing teams and organization

* 5+ years of experience supporting an engineering and research organization through technical leadership

* Demonstrated experience in recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management

* Leadership and interpersonal communication experience in working across many disciplines, drive best practices, and mentor team members

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience leading a team to ship version one consumer software products

* Having multiple research publications and citations

* Experienced at working with PM, Design and Analytics

* Experience managing teams productizing Computer Vision or AI/Machine Learning technologies from conception to end
