Senior Packaging Engineer

Job Description

The Role:

As the Senior Packaging Engineer, you will develop and commercialize new packaging formats in compliance with SIOC and Customer guidelines to meet rapidly changing consumer behavior in the E-Commerce landscape. Reporting to the Packaging Manager, you will work as the expert for the E-Commerce channel for R&D Packaging, and you will lead the technical delivery of multiple E-Commerce projects with innovations to improve our current state.

What You'll Do:

* Independently lead the technical delivery of multiple E-Commerce projects from conception through commercialization.
* Recognized as an expert in E-Commerce channel within R&D, and in successfully designing for SIOC and other customer requirements.
* Identify right-sized and right-format packaging for important brands in E-Commerce channel.
* Highly engaged in working directly with E-Commerce business counterparts (brand, finance, sales) and technical counterparts (manufacturing, supply chain) on projects.
* Work with Demand Sciences (Insights & Analytics) and brand teams to develop understanding of consumer purchasing behaviors for the E-Commerce Channel.
* Maintain working relationships on projects with internal and external e-commerce teams.
* Coordinate and execute experiments and plant trials; prepare results in technical reports and presentations for review.
* Have understanding and application of experimental design, performance-based specifications and qualification (CQV) design principles.
* Interpret and develop technical specifications.
* Maintain high awareness of competitor and adjacent trends in the E-commerce channel; shares information freely with R&D and collaborators
* Participate in brainstorming and information gathering efforts for resource planning process.
* Collaborate with internal business peers and full e-commerce teams with a high level of efficacy.
* Cultivate and foster relationships with external partners, including suppliers and customers.
* Gain familiarity with fiscal and strategic plans of team.
* Be aware of project tasks and how they affect the project budget.

What You'll Bring:

* Bachelors in Packaging, Engineering or related field; Masters preferred.
* 5 years work experience in packaging or engineering industry
* Ability to work in an agile and evolving environment during concept ideation and development.
* Curiosity and passion to design for changing consumer behavior in E-Commerce landscape
* Solid (and growing) understanding of packaging material capabilities and packaging equipment interactions.
* Knowledge of test methodology and practical application.
* Strong ability to collaborate and maintain cross-functional partnerships.
* Analytical, problem-solving, and trouble shooting abilities.
* Financial understanding to increase profitability.
* Ability to travel up to 20 - 40% of time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible Conagra Brands representative
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
