Expedia's Developer Platform Team serves as the front door for developers in the broader Developer Platform & Infrastructure (DP&I) organization ecosystem. We put the EG developer at the center of our focus. We optimize our platform with tools and frameworks to ensure Expedias developers can build, test, and deploy high-quality code safely and at scale. Our team is impactful and high-leverage: we work every day to reduce friction for our engineering community. We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to lead our most critical and highly visible products. To succeed, you should have strong problem-solving and business skills, as well as experience leading and influencing teams. You are also a designer who can define a compelling vision, build powerful experiences and launch/iteratively improve products. This is a high impact role, that requires you to be an influential voice for the product and build momentum at all levels of the company.
What youll do:
* Lead design system programs, key initiatives or product areas and influence across multiple customer experience touch points
* Strive to understand our developers as customers - identify target personas and invent end-to-end experiences that delight
* Define success and establish metrics to measure platform product performance
* Use established design patterns, while pushing new standards when appropriate
* Bring a systematic point of view to problem-solving, while understanding how to isolate specific issues and opportunities
* Optimize and evolve design with partners (Design, Product, Engineering) and ensure the integrity of the experience and design system is upheld
* Advocate adoption of your platform products internally and externally
* Execute efficiently in a fast-paced fluid environment where change is constant, and innovation is encouraged
Who you are:
* MFA, BFA, or BS in Human Factors, Interaction Design, Graphic Design or equivalent experience
* Strong in 1 core skill, capable in 2 others: Interaction/visual design, Information architecture, User research, Facilitation, Prototyping, Technical/Platform knowledge, UX writing, Illustration, and Motion design
* 3-5 years of working experience in a design role
* Experience in web (responsive desired), native mobile, product graphic, interaction, or information design
* Excellent core visual or interaction design skills with strong technical capabilities in prototyping, front-end presentation technology, and user-centered design methods
* Demonstrated knowledge in mobile platforms
* Excellent written and verbal skills to clearly communicate a strong rationale for how the system will work and evolve
* Familiarity with concepts around modularity, reusability, progressive enhancement, browser fallbacks, and state and conditional logic
* Understanding of how technical back-end and front-end fit together across channels
