Reporting to the Senior Director, Transportation the Transportation Manager, 3PL Client Services is responsible for managing all day to day operational activities and costs associated with client transportation and distribution processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage small team to provide customized customer-centric day to day operational transportation scheduling services for domestic and international moves
* Supervise, mentor and train team of professionals to create responsive, motivated team with clear objectives and career development
* Provides effective leadership and overall management of receiving and shipment schedules and processes. Collaborates with Customer Care, Program Management and Distribution Operations to coordinate transport and distribution schedules
* Develop centralized client response operations and processes to receive and execute requested client product movement in a timely manner, providing real time data to clients on shipment status
* Support contract negotiations, RFQ responses and the relationships with all 3PL providers and common carrier providers for four distribution operations
* Manage all operational activities and associated costs of transportation and distribution processes
* Works with enterprise functions to provide secure, temperature controlled, risk mitigated solutions for clients
* Keeps updated on US and international regulations to direct and support domestic and international movements
* Presents, initiates and implements process improvements for continuous improvement of cost, service, and efficiency
* Delivers cost saving solutions to clients in coordination with the Transportation Operations Support data and analytics team
* Create and communicate reports and presentations for clients, cross functions and upper management related to volume, cost-improvement initiatives, security and service
* Provide hands on support and management of all implementations, high value moves and client special projects
* Represents team on all green initiatives
Typical Minimum Experience
* 6+ years of transportation management experience preferably in a large multi-level organization including route management, cost management and team development for both domestic and international operations
* 1+ years of leadership and team management experience
* Bachelors degree in Business Management, Finance, or relevant field
Critical Skills
* Experience managing the shipment and/or receipt of outgoing or incoming materials and products
* Proven success with developing and implementing process improvements to distribution procedures to improve timeliness or reduce costs
* Excellent computer skills, including a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
* Ability to manage multiple sites including team members based in different locations
* Ability to communicate effectively to Customers and Senior Management
* Import / Export and Customs management experience including FTZs
* Experience with transportation auditing and data/analytics
* Mercury Gate experience or other TMS system
Physical Requirements
* Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) general office and some ability to work from home
* General office demands (standing/sitting)
* Regular local travel between sites and occasional overnight travel
* Ability to conduct office activities and tours of facilities
