Communications Specialist
Key Role:
Support the project team in developing and implementing innovative strategic communications and outreach programs and initiatives designed to engage program members, government partners, and stakeholders proactively. Serve as writer and content manager on clients SharePoint environment. Draft content for publication on client site and liaises across varying Task Order organizations and work activities to ensure accuracy of communications products, communication plans, and content. Follow all applicable approval processes to ensure all content is cleared and approved before publishing. Draft social media using internal social media platforms, post content, and engage stakeholders. Coordinate the delivery of multiple project initiatives designed to enhance the services and level of support provided to the client. Research new content to develop for communication products and confer with the project leadership team regarding complex subjects to maintain the coherence of communications products.
Basic Qualifications:
-3 years of experience in the strategic communication field, including change management, content development, Web strategy, and implementation planning
-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
-Experience with SharePoint
-Experience with Poppulo or a third-party message distribution system
-Experience with writing and editing material in a journalistic style
-Ability to gather information and synthesize it into client-ready deliverables
-Ability to assist with the development of new communication methods to reach target audiences
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-BA or BS degree
Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with multimedia and graphic design layouts related to strategic communication products
-Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) and video production software
-Experience with top executives and senior leaders.
-Ability to translate ideas and concepts into professional communication products, including talking points, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, articles, e-mails to staff, and other communication products, as directed.
-Ability to balance competing priorities and manage several time-sensitive projects at once in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
-BA or BS degree in Journalism, Communications, Business Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, or Political Science
