The Amazon Alexa team focuses on bringing user-delighting, voice-activated experiences to Amazon customers. The mission of the Alexa Cloud Secure Solutions team is to safeguard Alexa customers by developing world class, innovative solutions for the biggest security challenges. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead our efforts to uncover, track, solve, and report on the biggest security challenges across Alexa. You will partner closely with security minded engineers and developers to push the boundaries of innovation. Additional responsibilities include:
You will work closely with security engineers and product teams to improve our understanding of the security challenges in Alexa
You will help strategize on creative, world-class approaches to meeting these challenges that raise the bar in the industry
You will use perceptive insights on business and customer security needs to drive vision and planning for the organization
You will dive deep into our architecture and systems and learn about the machine learning technologies and feedback loops that power the Alexa experience as well as the capabilities built on top of it
You will drive improvements in the security of the organization as a whole
You will engage on a regular and frequent basis with Senior Executive teams on new challenges, solutions, and progress.
Excellent listening, writing skills and strong technical competency are essential.
The ideal candidate is a creative, demonstrated leader/manager with superior analytical abilities and product judgment. This opportunity requires excellent technical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have 6 or more years of relevant work experience in internet-related project and/or technical product management in a software applications environment. The ideal candidate will also have experience defining program requirements, tracking and driving complex initiatives that span multiple organizations, strong collaboration skills, and a keen ability to prioritize effectively.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education.
3+ years of professional experience in software development.
Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
Computer Science fundamentals in data structures.
Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
Knowledge of, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, C, or Java.
Masters degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Experience working on software related to security such as access control, data protection, and intrusion detection
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems.
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.
Experience influencing software engineering best practices within a team.
Prior experience with AWS technologies.
