Purpose of the role

The VP Enterprise Systems, Finance and Legal is a key senior management position responsible for formulating and

delivering the IT roadmap in context of the business strategy for the assigned area, with programmer/project management responsibility for IT service provision, primarily through News Corp technology teams or 3 rd party service

providers.

They will create & manage a portfolio of investment and initiatives which align with the relevant business areas needs. Owning key stakeholder relationships and ensuring technology needs are understood and defined as programmes, projects, small changes. Managing projects themselves they will also lead professional, flexible and responsive teams of analysts and project managers to deliver high quality change ensuring robust project planning/management to meet costs & timescales. Maximise project capacity through optimal resourcing solutions

and focused development of technology people in a matrix management environment.

Manage key technology vendor relationships in the finance and legal space. Internally this role is also the interface for the News Corp Technology teams and News Corps Operations/Infrastructure team working to outline the Internal Technology Roadmap for finance and legal. Operate from commitment to own team, wider

News Corp Technology & Business teams, creating & sustaining an environment where technology professionals are highly motivated & fully

engaged.

Accountabilities

Accountable for defining scope of projects and roadmap of delivery for assigned business area

Build and own 3rd party relationships and system roadmaps for assigned areas and ensure upgrades and functional change and accounting for their associated costs are included in the appropriate Technology Roadmaps and budget

cycles.

Work with the regions, central and corporate divisions to understand their systems needs, and interfaces and to ensure that their strategic priorities can be delivered from an IT perspective. Create, manage and deliver a detailed, fully funded annual delivery programme for assigned area(s) in support of the designated region/functions.

Deliver all projects and technical support work associated with designated region/functions in line with technology

standards, on time, to budget and within agreed quality parameters so business ambitions are realised.

Understand & inform business stakeholders about technical advances relevant to their specific domain to ensure they are up to date and appreciate the technology solutions available to them.

Ensure designated regional/functional areas are fully aware of the technology and business systems and services deployed within their area, the risks, costs and lifespan associated with them.

Ensure committed plans are in place to replace/decommission end-of-life systems before they go out of support thus avoiding risk and excessive cost to the business.

Adhere to all Technology standards in the creation and delivery of the change programme(s) to ensure Corporate Governance requirements are met.

Recruit, lead, motivate, develop and manage the performance of direct reports, building a high calibre team with the skills and capabilities needed to deliver the required results.

Ensure 3rd party compliance to contractual agreements and delivery targets and act as a point of escalation for if/when issues in delivery arise.

Responsible for leading technology/system contract renewals and negotiations for business areas assigned

Manage expectations of key senior stakeholders throughout the life cycle of change programmes from inception to delivery at programme, departmental, business area and regional levels appropriately.

Responsible for the coordinated management of multiple related projects, and in many (most) cases, ongoing technology related operations which are directed toward a common objective.

Professional Experience

A career history that encompasses senior IT management roles within a challenging and changeable environment including diverse technologies, complex strategic and/or delivery roles.

Substantial experience in an information technology discipline ideally with specialisation in business/systems analysis and/or project management

Sound knowledge of a range of programme and project management techniques

Sound knowledge of development methodologies and approaches

Technology role with well-honed expectation management capabilities

Experience of line managing significant sized technology teams in excess of 20 people with a sound understanding of leadership. Able to coach and develop technology teams with robust people management skills including performance management, motivation and communication

Sound experience of the creation and management of technology strategies and associated delivery plans for specific business areas

Experience of managing and controlling project budgets and optimising the volume of delivery:cost ratioDemonstrable experience of building and sustaining productive relationships across multifunctional technology and business teams inside own organisation

Demonstrable experience of building and sustaining productive relationships across organisations and with third parties to deliver business value
