Associate Engineer Data Quality

Position Summary

Associate Data Engineer is responsible for writing test scenarios, test scripts and linking scenarios to requirements and or user stories. They are also responsible for executing test scenarios and scripts assigned to them by the Lead or Supervisor. Data Engineer will perform defect creation of failed test scenarios and root cause research of failed test scenarios. The Data Engineer may be required to assist in the gathering of requirements and provide requirements analysis. The Data Engineer may also work with development resources to triage defects they find, and retest defects.

Essential Responsibilities

* Develop data-centric Test Plans and Test Cases in accordance with JetBlue software testing standards and practices
* Assist Supervisor with guiding team and project initiatives
* Partner with project team to guide/promote the definition and documentation of quality requirements and ensure they are met prior to production deployment
* Track requirements, Test Cases, Scenarios, Defects, establishing traceability, maintaining the records of Quality Controls required for compliance and certifying Software for release to production
* Evaluate, document and communicate risks to project team and leadership, Perform peer code review
* Partner with project team to guide/promote the definition and documentation of quality requirements and ensure they are met prior to production deployment
* Ensure data quality and integrity is maintained in ETL processes
* Perform Data Analysis and data quality assessment. Provide guidance for data profiling & data cleansing when defects are found.
* Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

* Associates Degree in Computer Related field
* Two (2) years experience in Information Technology or Quality Assurance
* Sound knowledge and experience in Metadata and Star schema/Snowflake schema, Analyse Source Systems, Staging area, Fact and Dimension tables in Target D/W
* Data analysis experience in large complex Databases
* Provide clear and effective oral and written communication
* Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
* Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

* One (1) year of data integration testing
* One (1) year hands on experience with MS SQL (2008 or higher) with ability to create complex queries
* Two (2) years hands on experience with MS Excel (2007 or higher).
* Hands on with Scala and SQL code on Spark to ensure data quality and integrity in Hadoop based data stores like Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Blob, and Hive etc. using HDI cluster in cloud
* Proven analytical skills to translate business logic into test cases/scripts
* Experience in preparing Test Strategy, developing Test Plan, Detailed Test Cases, writing Test Scripts by decomposing Business Requirements, and developing Test Scenarios to support quality deliverables
* Experience in working with Software Development team in resolving Defects, presenting the Defect Status reports, resolving requirement and design inconsistencies
* Team player with excellent Organization and Interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and deliver on time
* Good understanding of QA principles/methodology
* Ability to prioritize & plan the activity, dividing big projects into specific tasks
* Good communication skills in a diverse environment
