Responsibilities:
Ensuring your personal safety, the safety of coworkers and customers is a primary duty; an obligation as a CMOE employee. Supports the Maintenance Services Group; repairs machinery and mechanical equipment. Work involves most of the following: troubleshooting, examination of machines and mechanical equipment required to diagnose anomalies, dismantling machines, as required to diagnose and repair, or adjust, and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools. Preparing written specifications for major repairs, repair parts, or for production of required items. Acquisition of replacement parts from OEM, or OEM approved entity, or manufacturer / machine shop to which specifications have been provided. Reassembling machines and making adjustments required to ensure proper operation. Mechanical requirements at LaRC largely involve reciprocating and centrifugal pumps and compressors. Work performed by Machinery Maintenance Mechanics requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship, or equivalent training and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
U.S. Citizenship required. Six years' experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft, or trade that can be documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade program. Must be able to effectively communicate well with others.

Physical Requirements:
Visual and physical (hands on) contact of mechanical related systems, hardware, articles (50%). Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (20%), body mobility (60%) and ability (where applicable) to distinguish colors.

Work Environment:
Mechanical Shop environment and equipment rooms - potential exposure to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities. Many areas where work is required may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation and environment (90%). All safety rules and regulations must be followed at all times without exception.

Equipment and Machines:
Repair and overhaul a variety of large industrial pumps, valves, gear boxes, cooling towers, hydraulics, air handlers, exhaust fans and other mechanical equipment (90%).
Standard office equipment - PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc. (10%)
Safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) (10%)

Attendance:
Regular attendance is mandatory (100%)
Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (20%)

Other Essential Functions:
U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. CMOE Maintenance employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries: as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required. Employee must have a valid driver's license.
