Job Description

As a Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will efficiently manage the purchase of raw material categories supporting various PPG strategic business unit initiatives. This includes developing a strategy regarding the sourcing of raw materials included in key product formulas, determining quantity and quality, negotiating cost included in development and implementation. In addition to managing an assigned category portfolio, strong leadership and influencing skills are essential in order to interact with multiple PPG internal functions and supplier representatives.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage multiple and/or large key suppliers with a spend of $50-$200MM.
* Assisting with the development of strategies and data analysis related to purchase of specific raw materials.
* Working closely with technical and operations to implement alternative raw material suppliers.
* Developing cost/benefit analyses, understanding feedstock trends, plus supply-demand fundamentals, for existing or new materials to ensure positive impacts to the SBUs through key negotiations with suppliers.
* Pursue working capital gains and cost savings for SBU's!
* Perform regional liaison role for procurement with one key business unit.
* Assist as required in managing raw material shortages, expedite key materials during a crisis.
* Contributing as a key influencer role in the qualification of alternative raw material sources.
* Coordinating constructive, working relationships with suppliers and PPG global counterparts during the development of new materials or, as required, in the analysis and reformulation of existing materials.
* Collaborating with various suppliers, other PPG global buyers, and technical representatives to accurately define costs, benefits, and logistical needs.
* Assist new/less experienced buyers with standard procurement methodologies.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required.
* 5+ years of experience in commercial, sales, marketing, or raw material procurement experience.
* Technical field experience, including Chemistry, Engineering, or the Natural Sciences is a plus!
* Experience negotiating large contracts, preferably with Global Suppliers.
