Dow has an exciting job opportunity as a Lab Analyst located in Plaquemine, LA.

Job Summary:

Lab Analysts utilize knowledge to gain experience in how to perform routine analyses, evaluates the results, and calibrates and maintains analytical systems to provide analytical data to produce and release products in a safe and optimal manner.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Route requests originating within the unit to the appropriate service provider
Prepare basic calibration standards
Perform basic calibration and maintenance of analytical systems.
Collect samples according to Sample Plan.
Perform routine analyses.
Use electronic tools such as required.
Evaluate validity of data, apply basic statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
Monitor analytical systems, identify problems, conduct first-line troubleshooting, and escalate as appropriate.
Document, communicate and archive analytical results and calibration data.
Suggest and implement improvements to the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures, and analytical work processes and tools.
Participate on analytical or plant improvement teams.

Required Qualifications:

Strong knowledge and hands-on experience, either in an academic setting or work environment, with a variety of laboratory analytical instruments.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing laboratory.
Experience with Chromatography Data Systems, Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other tools such as Master Task List and electronic log book.
Application of techniques in Polymer Chemistry, such as Mooney Viscosity and Melt Index.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science field is an asset.

Physical Requirements:

Must be willing and able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
Stand 50% of the time.
Walk for extended periods of time
Climb stairs and ladders.
Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.
Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
Work in an area with hazardous materials.

Education:

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.

Also need one of the two below is required:

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR
An Associates degree or higher in a related field
