You will analyze large amounts of data to understand how we can improve our products, including for example mobile, web, and set top box video as well as IOT and home network products!

* Conducting analyses and building models to provide insights about our products and customers
* Crafting experiments around new and existing features advocating for change based on your insights

Core Responsibilities

* Develops and executes statistical and mathematical solutions to business problems. Frames problem, develops roadmap and communicates intended approach and quantitative methods to develop solution.
* May serve as a team leader within a work group or on cross-functional teams. Mentors and train junior team members.
* Improve products and services or solve problems using best practice and knowledge of internal and or external business issues.
* Uses analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data, extracting actionable insights using advanced statistical techniques such as data analysis, data mining, optimization tools and machine learning techniques and statistics (e.g., predictive models, LTV, propensity models). Build customer centric models and optimization tools to support large scale projects that utilize online & offline data, structured & unstructured data, set top box data and media/behavioral/attitudinal data.
* Develop and deploy predictive models based on historical data that provide future predictions about customer behavior.
* Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on applying data science techniques to business data.
* Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
* Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

* MS degree in a quantitative discipline (including, but not limited to, statistics, operations research, bioinformatics, economics, political science, sociology, demography, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, industrial engineering).
* 2 years of relevant work experience (e.g., as an engineer, data scientist, researcher etc).
* Keen eye for detail and thoughtful investigation of data before relying upon it.
* Ability to think and execute at multiple altitudes: from strategy and vision to execution.
* Experience with writing code in one commonly used data science language (e.g. Python or R).
* Experience conveying conclusions and insights using visualizations.
* Strong grasp of the scientific method and self-direction.

Preferred qualifications:

* PhD degree in a quantitative discipline as listed in Minimum Qualifications.
* 3 years of relevant work experience (e.g., as an engineer, data scientist, researcher, post-doc etc).
* Deep expertise and experience with statistical methods (e.g. generalized linear models, multilevel models, sampling methods, causal inference, experimentation).
* Applied experience with machine learning on large datasets (Spark).
* Experience articulating business questions and using mathematical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data.
* Experience translating analysis results into business recommendations.
* Proven skills in selecting the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
* Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
