Who You Are
Youre a curious problem solver who has the ability to bring big ideas to life. Youre creative and scrappy but can navigate a large organization with ease. Youre agile and adaptable but work with precision to ensure we deliver top-notch customer experiences, always. You also have:
* 2-5 years of related experience in consumer products is preferred.
* Proficiency in product design and manufacturing of plastic injection molded and/or metal parts is preferred.
* Experience creating performance specifications and/or test plans is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in 3-D CAD is required.
* CATIA Engineer highly desirable.
* Working knowledge of manufacturing where a moderate to high volume of mechanical components are made is preferred.
* Experience working with overseas manufacturing plants and vendors is preferred.
* Familiarity with manufacturing documentation methods (bills of materials, routings and tool lists, etc.) is preferred.
* Experience working with overseas team members is a definite plus.
* Previous experience involving manufacturing processes (such as heat treating, coatings and machining operations) is a definite plus.
* B.S. Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
What Youll Do
As a Product Engineer youll be part of our Hand Tools, Accessories and Storage team. In this position you will be responsible for design, development and manufacturing support of power tool accessories, cases, component ideas and concepts that will meet our manufacturing, safety, quality, compliance, cost and marketing objectives. Must estimate development costs and monitor assigned projects through all phases of development. Perform sampling, product testing and documentation including the writing of product performance specifications and test plans. Prepare models, costs, technical data, product documentation and/or initiate requests for model making and testing services. Position involves close coordination with manufacturing, marketing, industrial design and customer base. Specifically, youll have:
* Proficiency in 3-D modeling and 2-D drawing (CATIA preferred but not required)
* Working knowledge of the design/manufacturing of plastic molding, stamped parts, die cast parts and conventionally machined parts
* Think creatively to develop ideas that can be protected by patents
* Ability to correctly tolerance parts with GD&T for form, fit, and functions
* Perform/specify the required testing for design and performance verification
* Ability to work on and coordinate multiple, global projects
* Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
* Ability to work effectively with a global team
* Possess well-developed interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
