Department Summary
Located within the Energy Delivery group, Customer Energy Management is responsible for the planning and the execution of new and existing customer requested services. We work with individual residential customers, large commercial firms and businesses, municipalities, other utilities, and internal stakeholders to meet the customer needs of their electric and gas projects. Job Description
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the execution of providing gas and electric service to residential and commercial/industrial customers. This individual will be expected to have working knowledge of the Gas and/ or Electric Distribution Systems. The Project Coordinator will have to effectively prioritize and organize small to large sized projects in response to the needs of the customer. This will primarily revolve around gathering customer scopes and following the project from the design, scheduling, and field construction phases by the customers want date.
Tasks for this role will include:
* Serving as the face of Consumers Energy to our customers, which includes responsibility for the overall coordination of work between the customer, Consumers Energy, and any other outside stakeholders.
* Estimating customer and system loads, updating customers on the status of projects, generating tasks for other departments, providing cost estimates, identifying any required permits and scheduling work orders.
* Project Scoping, evaluating and analyzing distribution design requirements and impact on distribution system to direct the preparation of the work order
* Coordinating pre-requisites for successful completion of a distribution project to meet customer commitments requiring ingenuity as to application of normal procedures
* The Project Coordinator may be responsible for the design of some gas and electric design, based on the geographic location, workload, and available design resources.
* Working outside of normal working hours to assist with emergency operations and storm restoration. Such roles could involve working as a back-up dispatcher, field guide, damage assessor, or wire guard. This will require occasional travel outside of assigned headquarters.
* The ideal applicant should exhibit the ability to analyze complex problems, recommend alternatives, and take corrective action, while exhibiting in-depth knowledge of the policies and procedures of the business.

* Use computer assisted drafting (CAD) or other appropriate systems/software/programs such as SAP to accommodate customer's request and align with internal quality control processes.
* Manage project milestones; organizing and prioritizing the scheduling of work assignments in response to work orders.
Requirements/Qualifications
* A 2-year associate degree in the requisite scientific, technical, or business field (48 scientific or technical credit hours as measured on a semester basis) OR have completed two years of college course work (60 Credits) towards a Bachelor degree in a technical field.
* 3+ years working experience in associated area.
Essential Functions
* Review blueprints, drawings, property descriptions and plans to verify requests are within the capability of the system, (i.e. within voltage availability).
* Complete site analysis as needed to take measurements required for design layout.
* Apply engineering standards to design project within CE tariffs and following company policy and procedure guidelines.
* Utilize company tools (SAP, Micro station, Office, etc.) to coordinate work order preparation and procurement of all equipment and materials required for completion of project.
* Manage project milestones including customer prerequisites to enable project completion on customer timelines.
* Project milestones include, but are not limited to, easements, customer billing and payments, contracts, designs, inspections, site readiness, tree trimming, permits, and coordination/maintenance/communication of project dates with internal departments.
* Serve as the customers primary contact, throughout the request process.
* Partner with customers to resolve concerns as they arise.
* Educate and inform customers on system parameters & maintain a strong working relationship.
* May provide the primary level of support during storm restoration operations, assisting with OMS in the office, assessing damage, scheduling or routing crews, assisting in Mutual Assistance in-state and out-of-state efforts, and doing other associated tasks.
* May provide support in gas and other emergencies (including gas overpressures) as assigned.
* A Project Coordinator will routinely balance a project load of 75 125 notifications with varying degrees of complexity. Projects vary in length of time required for completion (up to 6 months). The position is required to provide on-call support for work management centers in a field or office role. Performs other related duties as required.
Hours and Travel
* This position normally requires the individual to work 40 hours per week including both field and office work.
* Overtime assignments are often required especially during times of increased workload or emergencies (storm).
* In emergency situations employees must be able to work shifts of up to 16 hours.
* Typically, regional travel/driving required year-round to job sites, project meetings, or for emergency support and could be significant dependent upon location.
* Some statewide and/or out of state travel may be required to support operations.
* Field/site visits are required to take field notes and/ or meet with customers on site.
* Individuals must be willing to work additional hours for rotated on-call storm activities and out-of-regular-schedule work assignments to meet deadlines or assist with gas or electric emergencies, including gas overpressures events.
