JOB SUMMARY

CBRE is looking for an On-Site Mechanical Engineer to lead individual, Mechanical Data Center Infrastructure projects and initiatives for a large technology client.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Act as owners representative, facing vendors and being mindful of the company values.
* Understand client specific requirements for datacenters and be able to apply this knowledge in the review and audits of colocation facilities (small to medium sized facilities).
* Have proficient knowledge of Uptime Institute standards for Data Center designs.
* Have a good multi disciplined knowledge in areas such as architecture, logistics, structural, and security designs as well as more in depth counterpart discipline knowledge (either electrical for mechanical or vice versa).
* Understand what reliability studies require and collect the necessary information to enable a third party to carry out the analysis
* Review vendor returns and analyze vendor proposals for client occupation suitability
* Attend initial meetings with vendors (either face to face or via video conferencing) to analyze the proposals provided by the vendor
* Review documentation and ensure that risks associated with single point of failures and concurrent maintainability are highlighted
* Prepare reports which highlight risks to client and provide recommendations for mitigation
* The locations are across EMEA. Travel will be required for 50-75% of the time. The candidate must be able to independently organize travel and accommodation as required (with client stipulated capped allowance)
* Travel to the site to meet with the vendor and carry out an in-depth survey of the site.
* Utilize client specific tools, spreadsheets and templates to carry out the audit. These tools will include some aspects of status of the audit and whether the work has been carried out in accordance with deadlines required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May lead project teams and/or plan, and supervise assignments of lower level employees.

Manages 3rd party project delivery resources/team. Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating team members.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BEng/BArch) from College or University in a technical area of study. Minimum four years of related experience and/or training.

Preferred:

Have proficient knowledge of Uptime Institute standards for Data Center designs.

Have proficient knowledge of the TIA-942

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. Knowledge in MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices.

Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
