Job Description
The Safeway Ice Cream Manufacturing Plant in Bellevue, Washington has an opening for Graveyard Sanitation Worker.
Primary job function is to clean up sanitation and general machinery/equipment set up. Trash and debris removal during or after production. Clean up person must be a certified pallet jack/forklift driver in order to move pallets of ingredients and other necessary supplies. Use hoses sprayers and foaming equipment to apply water or cleaning products on machinery.
Responsibilities:
Including, but not limited to the following:
1. Perform job functions in assigned areas as needed.
2. Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, offices, and other areas.
3. Properly clean and sanitize restrooms
4. Properly maintain company equipment.
5. Operate all power equipment associated with the sanitation department.
SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Previous custodial experience preferred.
* Ability to change hours and or job assignments as required.
* Knowledge of custodial cleaning supplies helpful.
* Ability to reach and lift cleaning work aides and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds, with an average weight lifted of 25 pounds.
* Ability to push and pull heavy floor cleaning machines and be on feet on concrete floor 8-10 hours per day or longer, if needed/per shift.
* Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and twist and meet all other physical demands of the position.

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
