Position summary
The Air Separation Unit (ASU) Cryogenics team delivers driven distillation and heat transfer technologies for cryogenic air separation plants of all capacity ranges. ASU Cryogenics team has an immediate opening for a hardworking research technician.

The successful candidate will use their skills to build and operate large- and small-scale testing equipment, facilitate, fabricate and trouble-shoot lab equipment in support of stage gate technology development. The candidate will be required to function effectively on multi-functional global teams. The ability to document observations and findings as well as fix lab operations is crucial.

Principal Accountabilities

* Maintain safe lab operations, while working with large scale equipment, cryogenic liquids, and high-pressure gases.
* Active participation in team safety programs and promote safe behavior
* Design, fabricate, solve, repair, and operate lab equipment, including small scale and large-scale units
* Actively support lab move to new AP headquarters, including documentation, decommissioning, packing, clean-up, and start-up of lab assets
* Lead contractors to support building and maintaining large scale experimental equipment
* Participate in experimental program design and execution, working closely with technology leads
* Collect, analyze, and promptly report on data collection, with focus on speed in commercializing technologies from the lab to the field
* Develop teams gas and chemical inventory
* Participate in team housekeeping activities
* Lead and participate in Design Hazard Reviews

Qualifications and experience

* Associate degree in chemistry, chemical/mechanical engineering, or similar technical subject area
* Minimum of 3 years work experience in an industrial lab setting
* Track record of safety in a laboratory or pilot plant environment
* Positive demeanor and ability to work effectively with global, multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to work on multiple projects
* Instrumentation and data collection system skills
* Familiarity with drawing software is a plus
* Strong verbal and written communications skills
