Description

Business Systems Analyst

The purpose of this position is configuring and delivering technical solutions to medium complexity software applications that utilize information technology resources. This position possesses the technical knowledge required to assess application systems and recommend solutions that enable achievement of business objectives.

Functional Expertise

* Participates in new technology solutions projects and system enhancements.

* Works with business partners to identify and evaluate improvements to Utility Business Systems applications that solve business problems.

* Documents and submits change requests through appropriate change control process.

* Participates and leads cross-functional teams of subject matter experts to gather and document requirements for application enhancements and new technology solution projects.

* Ensures business processes and technology are aligned.

* Develops and leads medium scale testing plans and develops test plans for medium system change initiatives.

Business Acumen

* Provides application support/planning in the areas of fact-finding, installation, testing and follow-up for the development of new and upgraded application software.

* Participates in testing and implementation of application enhancements and new technology solution projects at an enterprise level.

* Coordinates with Training Department to capture end-user impacts as a result of application enhancements and new technology solutions,

* Provides individual effort for tasks that need to be included in work plans.

* Assesses and identifies tasks and resources that need to be included in the work plan

* Proactively reviews current application trends to understand the impact to current business applications at the enterprise level.

Engagement

* Ensures tasks and deliverables are complete on time as to not impact other team members

* Leads team (application analysts / architects) efforts to identify solutions to resolve known issues

* Develop and maintain client relationships at the enterprise level to ensure a balance between standardization and jurisdictional differences

Driving Results

* Responsible for driving individual results, prioritizing work, evaluating results and taking corrective action as needed

* Ensure internal controls are achieved in compliance with policies and standards. Understand, execute and improve upon all components of the methodologies utilized.

Education, Certifications/Licenses

Required:

* BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and experience

Related Work Experience

Required:

* A minimum 5 years operations or systems experience in utility industry

* A minimum of 2 years experience in gas utility or verified equivalent experience

* 4 years experience supporting business processes and systems

Specific Skills & Knowledge

Required:

* Proficient in MS Office tools

* Possesses excellent communication skills and aptitude to work with business process owners and technical users.

Preferred:

* Support or project experience in the maintenance and development of utility business systems including, but not limited to Work Management (Click, WIMS) and Asset Management (Asset Repository) Customer Information Systems (CCB, GCMA, MyAccount, RBI),

* Work or project related experience in Field Operations and Resource Management departments.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Frequent Traveler (30%): The incumbent will be required to travel frequently during the Field Consolidation and Asset Repository projects. Trips will require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.

The incumbent works in an office environment.

This position will be filled as a Business Systems Analyst or a Business Systems Analyst, Sr. depending on your level of experience.
