Job Description

As a Development Engineer, you will use various mechanical and electrical laboratory test equipment such as an Instron to derive tensile and elongation properties of elastomers, plus various microwave test equipment such as Network Analyzers to determine electrical performance of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

* Testing and analysis: Ability to use various mechanical and electrical laboratory test equipment such as an Instron to derive tensile and elongation properties of elastomers, plus various microwave test equipment such as Network Analyzers to determine electrical performance of our products. Data analysis and presentation of results for customer review required.
* Hands on technical work: supporting technicians and production workers through all aspects of testing, research, and development and product implementation
* Development work: Developing custom microwave absorber and dielectric material solutions to comply with specific customer needs and drive qualification process; process development in foam dipping, laminating, fiberglass layups, liquid injection processes, and formula development with a strong background in electronic materials
* Work to alter existing formulations to create improved products or products that fulfill unique applications
* Work independently, taking ownership of projects including scheduling, raw material requirements and some customer support
* Support production and quality control (QC) activities at our manufacturing facilities, to include manufacturing process improvements where needed
* Some occasional travel may be required
* Must be able to furnish employment eligibility as a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident as per our government contract
* Must be able to work free from illegal drugs or alcohol, passing a hair follicle test
* Must be willing to follow all environmental safety and health and overall work rules and policies

Qualifications:

* Strong technical education- Minimum of B.S in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Chemistry. Electrical Engineering experience or Electronic Material exposure a large advantage
* Knowledge of the RF/Microwave industry desired; experience working on both commercial and military programs and applications is desired. Secret clearance is a plus
* Minimum of 8-10 years experience in the development and modification of silicone, epoxy, neoprene, and polyurethane formulas; Modifying these systems with various electronic fillers a plus. Experience with conductive elastomeric and chalking/paint materials formulation, and processes desired
* Proven track record of taking development projects from concept to production
* Working with the sales team and engineering to adapt standard products to the requirements of our customers; Some customer interaction will be required
* Hands-on experience leading or taking an independent contributor role in technical projects, with experience in project management and team leadership. Experience satisfying complex customer specifications in the electronics or aerospace industry a plus
* Experience with process development, rubber compounding, liquid injection molding, casting processes, neoprene latex formulations is ideal. Proficient with tolerances, verniers, calipers and measurement equipment
* Excellent computer and communication skills are essential. Ability to interpret CAD drawings and overall CAD skills a plus
