Environmental Engineer

PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are a growing organization seeking a talented Environmental Engineer to join our team as pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.

This Environmental Engineer position reports to the refinery environmental manager and will be part of a team of environmental professionals covering all aspects of refinery environmental matters. The successful candidate will support the refinerys environmental compliance with corporate policies and Federal, California state, and local laws and regulations. Regulatory areas include air, water, waste, and other programs.

The successful candidate provides compliance assurance and works to continuously improve the Refinery environmental management systems and environmental performance. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, inspection, other engineering disciplines, and contractors to ensure that environmental requirements are clearly understood and conveyed throughout the organization.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Oversee and coordinate compliance assurance for Refinery operations for environmental permits and regulations. This requires the ability to interpret complex technical, legal, and regulatory language.
* Perform complex emission calculations to support permit applications, regulatory requirements, and health risk assessments
* Collect information and maintain environmental data records to track compliance parameters
* Negotiate issues from a technical perspective with a broad spectrum of stakeholders (e.g. agencies, contractors, internal resources). This includes negotiation and management of any ongoing compliance issues with applicable agencies using strong verbal and writing skills.
* Engage in new rule development by contributing both a technical and regulatory effort. Includes coordinating with multiple stakeholders to implement new regulations.
* Lead/participate in agency inspections and compliance/enforcement issues
* Lead/participate in internal and external regulatory audits
* Promote the identification and development of environmental opportunities and improvements to the organization
* Monitor and evaluate emerging environmental regulatory requirements for business impact
* Participate in the refinery 24/7 on call environmental duty rotation and respond to refinery during environmental incidents
* Application of technical competencies and leadership skills to drive Refinery compliance assurance and problem resolution.
* Management of multiple activities with varying timelines and stakeholder engagement.
* Development of a broad range of technical skills and capabilities to allow for back up support for other environmental roles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
* Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, environmental science, physical sciences, or other closely related technical field required
* Work Experience
* Federal, California, and/or local Bay Area environmental regulatory experience and/or
* Industrial experience (refining, petrochemical, or other industries)
* Interpersonal skills:
* Ability to work effectively with a broad range of roles and individuals in an industrial setting,
* Stakeholder management, including senior site leaders,
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
