Job Description: We are looking for an experienced Engineering Director to help build APIs that millions of customers use every day to inform themselves, make decisions and learn about the world. You will play a leading role in a greenfield development initiative, building and growing personalization capabilities which will help our engineers and product owners innovate and build services that will drive customer engagement. Youre an engineer who can turn ideas into fast and reliable code that colleagues will find easy to understand and modify. You have your own style and opinions about code and engineering practices, but are also collaborative and excited about using data to make informed decisions, create great products and make the team better. You love to innovate and to enjoy helping others solve problems with software.

What you will do:

* Lead a team of engineers to find end-to-end solutions to important problems
* Work with product owners to innovate and come up with solutions to a new generation of problems

* Build infrastructure, toolset and deployment pipeline on our modern stack to support the development of personalization features across a wide variety of products

* Coordinate & align roadmaps and initiatives across multiple products, finding common solutions and deduplicating efforts

* Help your team solve problems in a way that makes sense for end-users, internal partners and our codebase

* Collaborate closely with other engineers and become a valued member of a cross- functional team and global technology organization

Who you are:

* Someone with deep understanding of modern development practices
* You know and care about REST principles and building scalable cloud native systems

* Experienced with back-end JavaScript, especially node.js

* Experienced with OOP style coding

* Able to manage multiple projects with varying degrees of maturity

* Caring about quality and what it means to ship high quality code.

* A person with experience leading software engineers of all expertise and abilities
