Objective:

Safely and efficiently assists in the operation of Press Machines for the production of the direct pressure laminate; operates various powered industrial equipment in the manufacturing of Direct Pressure Laminate; and performs inspection duties to optimize output.

Major Scope and Function:

* Complies with all safety rules and procedures
* Participates in Safety, Quality, and Process Improvement initiatives in the department by way of improvement ideas and OPLs
* Interacts with and interprets computer controlled systems to operate the press and maintain product in specifications
* Uses information systems (Shop Floor Control, Locus, Excel. Etc.) to confirm productions schedules, register product produces, and register inspection data
* Assists press operator in performing and preparing product changeovers which includes paper pallet changes, raw board changes, press plate and pad changes
* Performs quality testing on finished product; does 100% visual inspection on product that is set out for testing to identify any defects, and uses master sample to ensure correct product is being run
* Identifies and works with operator to resolve routine quality defects such as blows, board defects, gloss defects, and other press related issues
* Visually inspects panels and marks each defect found to ensure that it gets rejected at the milling line
* Follows controls and procedures so that the end product is produced to established quality standards
* Basic troubleshooting line faults with the assistance of operator by way of computer controlled machines, annual adjustments, manual handling of material, and problem solving skills to keep the line running efficiently and producing quality product
* Assists with weekly preventative maintenance, line inspection, and cleaning as required. Conducts housekeeping responsibilities as required
* Performs all functions of press forklift driver as needed
* Escalates issues to press operator, leadership, maintenance, engineering, etc. as needed
* Performs all other related duties as assigned by management

Knowledge, Experience, Competencies:

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Forklift certification
* Achieves minimum acceptable levels on Work Keys assessment tests for Applied Mathematics, Applied Technology, Locating Information and Reading for Information
* Forklift experience or willingness to learn to operate forklift
* 1+ years of manufacturing experience in a fast paced work environment
* 1+ years of experience with automated machines
* Basic computer skills
* Good mechanical aptitude/Machine operation knowledge
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Attention to detail
* Ability to work efficiently in a high speed, highly automated manufacturing process

Pay Rate: 18.16 / HR

Shift Differential: .60
