Our company's Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Drug Metabolism (PPDM) Department is seeking an exceptional leader who is passionate about leading a team of cutting-edge discovery bioanalytical scientists. The team enables decisions on discovery programs across modalities (small molecule, peptides, oligonucleotides, biologics, etc.) and therapeutic areas leveraging multiple platforms (eg. LC/MS, ligand binding, etc.) and provides a unique opportunity for someone to broaden their scope and impact. As Director of the Boston Discovery Bioanalytical Group, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional discovery teams to enable pipeline decisions. The main responsibility is leading a team that analyzes preclinical samples from discovery studies. Additionally, the position requires a focus on talent development and external engagement with the scientific community in developing best practices for discovery bioanalytics, especially for newer more complex modalities. At our company, we are transforming the role of bioanalytics to integrate program understanding, workflows, and data analytics across platforms and modalities as we develop the future generation of bioanalytical scientists. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Providing strategic, scientific, and operational leadership for the group responsible for providing discovery bioanalytical support to our company's discovery pipeline.
* Actively working with staff to encourage and facilitate their personal and scientific development.
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of quality discovery bioanalytical data
* Collaborating with Discovery Bioanalytical group leaders in West Point, PA and South San Francisco, CA for consistency and sharing of resources across the Discovery Network
* Sharing program timelines and learnings with the Development Bioanalytical teams
* Serving as a representative of our company in the external bioanalytical community
* Setting future strategies and bringing new technologies into the labs
* Responsible for scientific oversight of outsourced discovery bioanalytical work to Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) in collaboration with the PPDM Operations, Sourcing and Logistics group ensuring quality external data
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (eg. Chemistry, Biochemistry) and 10+ years related experience in pharmaceutical discovery and/or development. Candidates with MS or BA/BS degrees and significant (15+ years) industrial experience may also be considered.
Required Experience and Skills:
* A strong aptitude for and previous experience in managing scientific teams and attracting, developing, and retaining talent
* Extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience in bioanalysis in support of therapeutics (small molecule, peptides, oligonucleotides, biologics, etc.)
* Experience in interacting with and influencing discovery or cross-functional teams
* Ability to manage effectively a portfolio of projects and multi-task in a highly dynamic environment
* Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment in a professional and positive manner
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills and an ability to excel in a team-based environment
Preferred Experience and Skills:
* An established track record demonstrated through high-quality scientific publications in bioanalysis or a relevant field
* Experience with the utilization of multiple bioanalytical platforms (eg. ligand binding, LC/MS, etc.) with deep expertise in at least on of those areas
* Active engagement in one or more scientific societies and a record of an invited podium presentation at scientific meetings
