GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
Dr. Hamed Khalili of the Massachusetts General Hospital Gastrointestinal Unit is in search of a clinical research coordinator to help with research involving patients who undergo routine endoscopy and colonoscopy. We seek to learn more about a variety of gastrointestinal disorders, primarily including microscopic colitis and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Khalili's research group includes a clinical gastroenterology fellow and two clinical research coordinators who will be available for assistance, education and guidance.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Identifying and recruiting patients to participate in research
Attending patient appointments and procedures to collect research samples and data
Processing, storage, and management of biospecimens from study participants
Maintenance of regulatory documentation for all study participants
Medical chart review and data abstraction
Study and protocol coordination, revision, and development
Shared housekeeping tasks such as ordering supplies and scheduling meetings

Applicants should possess:
Excellent communication skills, including ability to interact with patients and study subjects
Ability to work well independently and within a multi-disciplinary team

A strong interest in a career in healthcare or biomedical research
Facility with Microsoft Word and Excel
Familiarity with performing scientific literature searches
Basic laboratory skills
At minimum a bachelor's degree
Willingness to commit to at least two years in the position is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
New graduates with some relevant course/project work or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position outlined above.
Those with a minimum of 1-2 years of directly related work experience will be considered for a Clinical Research Coordinator II position.
