Join a creative and resourceful, fast-paced team to monitor, measure, and implement innovative media relations and rapid response strategies to support brand reputation. Reporting to the Asc Media Relations Manager, Enterprise Operations, this individual is an ambitious and driven communications professional dedicated to learning the aerospace & defense media landscape.
The successful candidate will excel in identifying potentially impactful breaking news and contextualizing developments to appropriate internal stakeholders and customers. The candidate will be detail-oriented with a sense of urgency, have a commitment to relationship-building within the corporation, and will be able to maintain productivity with minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities of this position:

1. You can consume and contextualize breaking news and industry developments. You
a. monitor print, digital and online media sources for issues and policies relevant to the Lockheed Martin and the aerospace & defense industry
b. partner with external vendors to monitor, filter, assess and provide media coverage and analysis
c. serve as the eyes and ears of our function, centralizing information flow during crisis exercises

2. You are a team player. You
a. cultivate and maintain relationships with business area partners and internal clients
b. support integration of media relations with digital communications within the communications function across the enterprise
c. support the media relations team with an ability to step into unfamiliar roles on an as-needed basis

You set your team up for success by
a. creating executive-level deliverables, including weekly communications reports and weekly data metrics reports
b. identifying and contextualizing aerospace & defense industry events, hearings, news etc. that affects LM brand-reputation

Additionally, you will contribute to our media relations focus campaign efforts by:
* Assuming a leadership role in market research for emerging technologies
* Working on stakeholder mapping efforts
* Providing an infrastructure for data-driven decision making
* Coordinating with business area communicators to find and tell stories about Lockheed Martins technology capabilities and customer focus
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in journalism, public relations or communications
* Familiarity with contemporary communications and industry trends, including media listening and rapid response techniques
* Understanding of media measurement techniques, including volume, share of voice and sentiment analysis
* Able to work on many projects simultaneously and with close attention to detail
* Motivated self-starter who performs without appreciable direction and works effectively under competing priorities and tight deadlines

* Exceptional writing, editing and oral communications skills with the ability to convey highly complex information in a clear, compelling manner
* Creative instincts to help support strategic communication and issues management
* Strong understanding of the news media and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships
* Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and executive leadership and work in a matrix environment
* Motivated client-focused self-starter who works effectively under competing priorities and tight deadlines
