Job Description
Overview
The Estimator is responsible for all aspects of take-offs, including verification of take-off change requests. The Estimator is also responsible to assist in the review, verification, and elimination of material EPO requests. The Estimator should perform cost analysis recommendations on proposed plan changes.
Responsibilities
1. Create material take-offs for all existing, new, and revised plans. Initial need is for framing category.
2. Maintain the take-offs of all active plans.
3. Interact with Purchasing and Operations departments to verify take-off change requests.
4. Interact with architect/engineering consultants regarding plan changes impacting take-offs.
5. Analyze plans for cost analysis recommendations and research cost of proposed design ideas.
6. Assist in the review of material EPO requests to ensure in accordance with take-offs and scopes of work, and eliminate the need for material EPOs.
7. Complete take-offs as needed due to special projects and specification changes.
8. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
* Full understanding of residential construction, architectural, structural, & MEP design required
* 2 years residential construction/architecture experience preferred
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially in the use of Excel spreadsheets and formulas for financial modeling; must have the ability to work with JDEdwards, Build Pro, and other proprietary software
* Professionally perform multiple, detailed-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
* Good writing and organization skills
* Possess strong work ethic, integrity and loyalty
* Team player with the ability to work well under pressure
* Must have initiative and be able to achieve objectives with minimal supervision
* Must be detail oriented and a problem solver able to deal with complex situations
* Must have a valid drivers license
* Interact well with co-workers
* Understand and follow work rules and procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to work in excess of eight hours per day in an office along with field walks to confirm take offs. Also requires the ability to read plans, bend, stoop, walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, climb ladders, and/or carry equipment less than 50 lbs. Finger dexterity in operating a computer keyboard and calculator. Office work requires sitting at a computer monitor for extended periods of time, completing paperwork and to receive/return phone messages. Standing is required for filing and copying. Required to operate a motor vehicle.
