Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.Qualification

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Clearfield, Utah.

The selected candidate will support assembly processes for the SP2 program.

Essential Functions:

* Develop and improve aerospace assembly processes
* Work with the design engineering team to address design-for-manufacturing improvements
* Provide engineering support to the production floor; including work instruction clarification and redlines
* Mentor and train junior engineers in assembly techniques

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced production work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree and 9 years of experience working as a manufacturing engineer OR Masters Degree and 7 Years working as a manufacturing engineer
* Must have an active DoD Secret clearance within 5 years of last investigation
* Must have the ability to obtain a special program access clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

* Direct aircraft manufacturing engineering experience
* Experience with both manual and auto feed drill operations
* Drilling experience with composite, aluminum, titanium and stacked combinations
* Experience with both liquid and solid shimming techniques
* Experience with wiring and hydraulic installation
* Experience working with design engineering to incorporate improvements
* Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis experience utilizing Fishbone, KT, 8D or other similar
* Work instruction planning experience
* Highly proficient in NX11 or higher
* Preference will be given to individuals already accessed to Special Access Programs
