Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.
What Youll Get To Do:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Analyzes, models, designs and simulates communications systems, subsystems, and algorithms for communication networks, data links, digital radio, battle management, and command and control systems such as wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema, digital radio/communications technology and network architecture design.
Support architecture trades, design analysis, and performance modeling through computer simulation. This individual will provide systems engineering support to hardware developments for air, space, and ground systems utilizing state-of-the-art antenna, RF, digital, and microelectronics technologies. Project roles span all phases of product development cycle, from new business acquisition, and IRAD/ technology development to established programs delivering integrated hardware and software systems. Systems engineering activities include system architecture design, trade studies, specification development, requirement definition and allocation, performance analysis and simulation; system modeling and simulation tool development, and support to hardware design, manufacturing, integration and test.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualification
Basic Qualifications:
* Education and Experience: 14 Years with Bachelors Degree in a STEM discipline or 12 Years with Masters or 9 Years with PhD
* US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years)
* Practical working experience with system architecture design, trade studies, or performance analysis and simulation
* Technical experience with supporting hardware development utilizing antenna, RF, digital, or microelectronic technologies
* 10+ Years of experience leading systems engineering teams as an Integrated Product Team IPT Lead.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with any of the following tools and languages: CORE, DOORS, Rhapsody, Cameo, ModelCenter, MagicDraw, Easy Power, Prima Vera, UML, SysML
* Requirements Management: MBSE, Functional Block Diagrams, Specification Trees
* Systems and end item requirements validation and verification
* Design: Systems Design, Systems Architecture, Systems Integration, N2 Analysis, Trade Studies
* General knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines: Safety, Nuclear Hardness, Nuclear Surety, Material Science, Environmental, Parts and Logistics, etc
* Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis
* Project Management
* Decision Making: Risk Management, Cost-Risk-Benefit Analysis
* Experience with Tactical Radios, Wave Forms, Tactical Data Links, Networks, and System Administration with LINUX, UNIX and Windows.
* Experience with working with government/military personnel at government/military facilities.
* Systems Engineering V and test tools.
* Experience with RF and digital hardware design, Networking, Signal Processing, etc.
* Experience with Communication Systems and ICBM System is preferred.
