Overview

This Senior Crude Oil Scheduler position is located in Houston, Texas, where a team of schedulers, refinery feedstock coordinators, crude oil traders and analysts work together to optimize crude oil supply throughout MPCs refining system and commercial businesses. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling movements from gathering systems and onto domestic pipelines to various destinations such as refineries, market centers and other third-party assets. This role will also interact heavily with multiple external business partners such as pipeline companies, crude oil producers, crude oil trading companies, etc. This role will work within the Logistics, Strategy & Analysis team and will allow the successful candidate to understand the logistics fundamentals of the crude oil supply business while performing a complex and critical function. Key Responsibilities

* Schedules movements via various distribution channels through use of propriety and third-party scheduling systems. Responds to unexpected events making contingency arrangements to minimize disruption of product supply. Ensures relevant data is captured accurately and recorded, including international documentation.
* Identifies and communicates commercial/operational opportunities. Focuses continuously on increasing transportation efficiency while minimizing per-barrel transportation costs. Works with customers and suppliers to maintain accurate forecast on volume requirements/movements.
* Communicates and verifies planned movements and status with traders, optimizers, counterparties, producers, marketers, terminals, vessels and pipelines. Establishes and sustains industry relationships pertaining to supply, transportation and logistical issues.
* Provides timely and accurate inventory position information to traders and refinery feedstock coordinators.
* Works closely with risk and accounting departments to ensure the proper positions and movements are accurately captured and recorded
* Identifies and participates in development of new business processes and in the improvement of existing processes to reduce risk, improve performance and add value to the operations team.
* Trains and mentors less-experienced schedulers. Provides guidance on issues related to movements.

Expereince & Education

* Bachelors Degree required in Logistics, Business, Marketing, or relevant degree.
* Minimum 3 years of industry experience and 1-3 years of experience in crude oil scheduling or refined-products scheduling.
* Travel less than 5%
