The Integrated Genetics division (part of LabCorp's Specialty Testing Group) has an exciting opportunity for a Cytogenetics Technician in Santa Fe, NM. We are a fast paced diagnostic testing facility performing chromosome analysis on various tissue types. This position will include various wet lab procedures, troubleshooting, quality control, and microscope analysis. Open to hiring entry level candidates -- no previous experience required!
As a Cytogenetics Technician, you will be able participate in LabCorp's in-house training program for the field of Cytogenetics and to become a certified Cytogenetics Technologist. Receive in depth training and preparation for the ASCP board examination and certification. Training program is a two year commitment.
The schedule for this position will be Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday. Hours are variable based on business need. Start time can be as early as 6am, and the end time can be as late as 8pm. Ability to work weekends and overtime is required.
Responsibilities:
* Process specimens using various aseptic tissue culturing techniques
* Harvest live cultures resulting in slide preparations
* Chromosome analysis using microscopy and our computer imaging system
* Preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
* Reagent preparation
* Maintain documentation according to established procedures in designated technical department
* Perform general lab support duties
Requirements
* B.A./B.S. in Biology, Chemistry or relatable life science field
* Previous clinical or research lab experience preferred but not required
* Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime
* Attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
* Ability to multi-task is a must
* Eagerness to learn and self-motivated
* Ability to work in a team and in a collaborative environment
