Job Summary

This position will be part of the Parts & Accessories team and is responsible for overall ownership of engineering relating to design function at the component, system, and vehicle level, acting as the architect of their design from concept and evaluation to production launch and in-field quality control. This staff level design engineer will demonstrate strong overall understanding of specific rider vehicle interface components and vehicle system level interactions. There will be extensive interaction with OE, other P&A departments, Test Labs, Purchasing, and Suppliers to achieve results.

Job Responsibilities

* Designs and develops rider vehicle interface components (seats, handlebars, hand and foot controls, backrests, luggage racks) that meet voice of customer defined requirements.
* Demonstrates working knowledge and experience of new and changing technology through continuous learning in order to develop high quality engineering products and continuously improve processes. Ability to drive results with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
* Impacts quality of their own work through effectively communicating complex information with stakeholders such as designers, detailers, technicians and outside suppliers.
* Solves engineering issues relating to quality, cost and timing expectations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience and judgement with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
* Develops technical requirements through research, stakeholder interaction, and understanding guidelines, standards, and regulations.
* Leads and documents DFMEA's and creates/executes DVP&R's that support the mitigation of technical risk through test and evaluations.
* Provides informal guidance to new engineering team members and delegates responsibilities to team members when appropriate.
* Works effectively with cross functional teams and participate in the reduce time to market initiative by identifying, implementing and measuring the results of innovative product development techniques within the teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Specifications

* Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical Degree.

Experience Requirements

Required

* Requires a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in a technical field, with prior technical problem solving experience.
* A strong technical background is required; including an understanding of key tools and processes leveraged in analysis, design, test and manufacturing.

Preferred

* Previous project management experience is preferred.
* Motorcycle or automotive/vehicle experience is preferred
* Knowledgeable in the use of statistical and data manipulation techniques, Weibull Analysis is preferred.
