Overview
Specialty) provides and coordinates patient specialty health care in areas such as cardiac, oncology, pediatric/obstetric and gynecological care. PA may work in a wide variety of health care settings, including hospitals, physicians’ offices, and clinics. PA will care for patients as well as interacting with the public, often serving as a liaison between the doctor and the families of patients. The range of their work can include diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries and disabilities.
Responsibilities
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Participates in the overall care of patients as needed. Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition. Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
Makes tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
Assist physician with patient rounds, documenting patents status/progress.
Review medication regimens and responds to refill and medication requests.
Administer or order diagnostic tests.

Successful completion of an education program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants program accredited by the American Medical Association’s Committee on Allied Health Education and has passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Required Licensure and Certifications
Current Licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Kentucky. Credentials and work history credible for malpractice coverage in Kentucky.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Maintains current knowledge and skills in the Physicians Assistant field.
Participates in educational programs to enhance clinical/ experience.
Maintains Licensure and education requirements for Physician Assisting.
Recognizes his/her limits of knowledge and experience, planning for situations beyond his/her expertise, and
collaborating with or referring to other healthcare providers as appropriate.
Has knowledge of the statutes and regulations governing Physicians Assistant practice, and functions within those legal boundaries.
