The Director, Advisory Services is the overall project lead across high-complexity, multi-workstream engagements and oversees managers of individual workstreams and other consultants with responsibility to own, coordinate, and harmonize the overall approach. The Director serves as the principal point of day to day contact with clients and establishes optimal communication cadence with C-Suite executives. This role ensures workstream managers are coordinated and output is synchronous with client expectations. The Director focuses on practice economics and directs team members to follow the practices needed to ensure both quality and project profitability. The Director also has responsibility to identify client needs and tailor new business development opportunities both within the practice and across other Optum Insight business segments.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Overall project lead across high-complexity, multi-workstream engagements
* Diagnose client identified issues (as well as underlying circumstances) and determine the appropriate solutions
* Build consensus among client stakeholders who play a critical role in the client's ability to successfully implement the identified solutions
* Provide status updates and review of deliverables to client senior leadership team and/or project sponsors
* Accountable for budget and timelines of project deliverables across all workstreams
* Closely monitors actual vs. expected team utilization
* Utilize the standardized delivery tools to ensure effective and efficient project outcomes
* Provide support and subject matter expertise within Provider Enterprise Services and to other Optum Consulting and Optum Company business units when provider expertise is required in dealing with client issues
* Provide strategic input to the development of program roadmap and timelines
* Contribute to business development efforts and identify opportunities for collaboration with other OptumInsight business segments
* Develop proposals and statements of work for client specific engagements
* Participate, support and complete RFI, RFP and sales process
* Provide timely coaching and mentoring of project team with the goal of developing and retaining talent within the organization
* Create a team-oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages creative solutions and strategies
* Communicate effectively and accurately in writing and verbally to prospects, clients, and other staff
* Demonstrate strong relationship management skills and ability to handle challenging interpersonal situations

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree plus 10+ years consulting experience OR advanced degree (MBA/MPH/MHA, etc.) plus 6+ years consulting experience
* Experience working in a professional consulting firm to include project management, change management, developing and presenting deliverables, and analytics
* Experience successfully developing new business
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel
* Experience with client relationship management
* Ability to drill down to the root cause of issues and be creative in problem solving using a variety of approaches
* Ability to travel domestically up to 80% (actual travel requirements may be less)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working in Healthcare
* Graduate level degree obtained in business or Healthcare
* Background in healthcare consulting
* Experience managing projects that achieved budget and timeline goals
* Possess analytical reasoning and solution-focus problem solving
* Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
* Experience mentoring junior level staff
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Proven written and verbal communication skills
