Position Summary:

The Echocardiographic Technologist reports directly to the Supervisor, Non-Invasive Cardiology, and utilizes specialized technology, knowledge and skills to perform tests providing diagnostic data of the patients cardiovascular system. These tests are performed at the order of qualified physicians. Echocardiographic technology is a field recognized by the American Medical Association and the Registered Technologist is recognized as being capable of performing examinations without direct physician supervision. The technologist, through subjective and/or recording of data, proceeds with the established methodology of diagnostic examinations, creating a foundation from which a correct anatomic and physiological diagnosis can be developed for the individual patient when compared with the physicians clinical diagnosis.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Licensing/Certification/Registration:

* Current BLS provider card.

Education:

* Two years college and Registered Echocardiographic Technologist Certificate.
* Minimum 4 years in cardiac echocardiography field.

Experience:

* Previous hospital experience with active patient contact desired

* Ability to deal with sensitive / confidential information using diplomacy and discretion.
