Job Description

GDIT has an opportunity for a dynamic and collaborative Network Engineer to join our team supporting a Federal customer. The Network Engineer designs, plans and builds communications networks. Also, configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. The Network Engineer coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements, monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies, provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process, and plans implementation of enhancements.
* Analyzes customer requirements and provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate complexity.
* Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
* Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
* Coordinates hardware and software acquisition.
* Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.
* Supports the design and build of hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
* Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience.

Additional Requirements
* 7+ years-experience with Network Access Control (NAC) and the related technologies and protocols, including a working knowledge of PKI, 802.1X, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and VPN.
* 5+ years Cisco ISE implementation and ongoing operational maintenance experience
* Ability to analyze, test, troubleshoot, and resolve problems as well as identify deficiencies and solutions to improve the network environment.
* Working knowledge of PKI, 802.1X, 802.11x, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and VPN.
* Administrator level experience on Windows operating system.
* Familiarity with security standards and best practices such as NIST 800-53, FIPS 140-2.
* Government issued security clearance at a Public Trust level, or eligibility to obtain and maintain this clearance.
