Job Description:
Lead project teams to improve critical business processes that drive financial results. Scope moderately complex projects; develop project plans and business cases. Recruit, train, and lead project team members.
Job Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* As with all 6 Sigma Black Belts, individuals in these roles will be asked to train and lead improvement project teams. After completion of their training, Level One Black Belts should be capable of leading projects with an average savings per project of $150,000 and concurrently lead 1-3 projects of this magnitude. The majority of these projects will be of moderate complexity and focused in a single or across few functional areas within a Business Unit.
* Lead projects where the subject focus and solutions are moderately complex in nature, availability, and attainability. Lead improvement projects within the value center and effectively coordinate these projects with the Project Sponsor and other improvement project teams. Project leadership includes identifying opportunities, defining and financially justifying projects, launching project teams, using good project management to manage team activities, leading teams to execute projects using Design of Experiments and other methodology, tracking project status and results, removing and elevating project barriers, and developing team members. It is also critical to identify integration issues with other projects/processes and coordinate the improvements with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish the project goals.
* Measure results. Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring the degree to which the project goals, objectives and metrics are being met. Provide Project Sponsor with the results and take corrective project action as required to improve on results below target.
* Recruit and train team members. Identify potential Black Belts and recruit team members in the 6 Sigma infrastructure. Provide necessary training and coaching to team members to spread the base of 6 Sigma Problem Solving tools.
* Integrate improvement projects. Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects, and business strategy.
* Communicate. Ensure multi-channel communication throughout the organization. This includes keeping the Project Sponsor informed of program status and ensuring coordination of activities with other Black Belts. Also, this includes capturing project case histories that can be re-used for other projects.
* Provide quantitative data indicating the scope of the operation including current year and forecast sales, net income, total assets controlled, number of personnel, operating budget, and any other quantitative factors which describe the scope of the operation.
* This position has significant impact on the success of 6 Sigma. The improvements will improve the companys ability to meet customer expectations, improve quality, reduce cycle times, reduce cost and increase profits.
* Must be a results oriented change agent who is an effective business systems thinker. Must be able to manage risk and ambiguity on a project.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
* 6 Sigma Black Belt trained
* 7+ years of experience in product group design engineering, product service engineering, quality, or as a field Technical Representative
* Experienced with Quality and Reliability systems including SIMSi, RWA, QRQM
* Experienced with As-Delivered Quality and Reliability metrics (2 and 12 MIS DPU)
Top candidates will also have:
* 3+ years of CPI Team Leader or 6 Sigma Black Belt experience leading complex projects
* 2+ years user experience of Quality and Reliability systems including SIMSi, SISweb, RWA, QRQM
* Ability to teach others about As-Delivered Quality and Reliability metrics (2 and 12 MIS DPU)
* Data analytics experience associated with product quality
* 6 Sigma Black Belt certification or similar certification by ASQ
* Demonstrated project management, team leadership and communication skills.
* Knowledgeable with various functional teams that CPI Black Belts interacts with regularly: Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Operations, Supply Chain, Service Engineering and Dealer network.
* Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders & strong business acumen will be essential to achieve success in this role.
* Strong analytical skills and capabilities. Ability to draw insights from data to make quick, well informed decisions with 80% information.
