Business Operations Manager
Description:
A Business Operations and Strategy Manager will work with the Regional Vice President to manage, standardize and optimize our internal selling process which includes cross discipline integration while driving operational efficiency, effectiveness and cost optimization, making it easier to do business with Datalink.
The Team:
This role requires the ability to multitask, work with cross-functional teams, manage highly visible business critical projects, and deliver timely status reports including issues, risks and recommended mitigation. In addition to having relevant business process and educational background, the ideal candidate will be highly organized, flexible, and able to work independently to determine paths toward meeting stated goals.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Manage the performance of vendors within the region.
* Liaison to local manufacture teams, much like the Cisco BDM but with all Tier 1 and emerging manufactures
* Manage local manufacture lead time issues and order expedites
* Track success of joint marketing events Responsible for achieving established program goals.
* Work with Regional VP to establish Demand Generation programs
* Internal program development and management
* Work with HR to create a specific training program for new hires
* Work with Regional VP to establish ongoing training program for current sales force
* Vendor program development and management
* Work with marketing and PM to create new and unique demand generation programs
* Track and measure success of particular programs and white space development
* Work with Regional VP to establish reduction of non-selling activities.
* Work with finance on behalf of reps when commission questions or errors arise to allow them to focus on selling activities.
* Work with AEs and ARs on customer satisfaction issues, track the reasons behind them and work with collective teams to improve performance based on those statistics.
* Applies knowledge and understanding of all interdependencies between business processes; provides leadership for planning, developing and implementing business processes.
* Cross discipline integration with AS, PS, Delivery and manufacture partners
* Develop managerial relationships across the different disciplines to help create and improve process for increased efficiency on multi-faceted sales.
* Increase customer satisfaction with complex sales engagements.
* Generates recommendations for business process improvement based on data analysis.
* Work as a liaison with the IT organization using data collected in the field to improve systemic downfalls or issues.
* Increase AR productivity by removing systemic road blocks causing delays in quote creation and order placements.
* Documenting and addressing systemic issues will create a consistent and stable sales process - ensuring regional/company consistency with effectiveness, scalability, and company compliance.
* Work with IT to create effective sales out reports
* Sales out reports can be utilized to determine cross sell opportunities within a specific customer base.
* Sales out reports can be utilized to create customer quarterly reviews which will help increase customer satisfaction.
* Responsible for Process Documentation, workflows and win book creation.
* Establish a standard RFP process.
* Having a standardized process with a shared database of proposal responses will help to standardize our RFP response and lessen the amount of time a rep will need to spend putting a response together for submittal.
* Standard process is likely to increase sales at bats.
* Create a template for specific regional projects and wins that can be easily referenced for pre-sales conversations and initiatives.
* Creating a database of win stories will allow for reps to have a pool of projects to showcase with other prospective clients increasing their overall opportunities.
* Creating a quick pivot of specific technical POCs will allow our regional engineers to more quickly understand what types of POCs have worked and which have not.
Key Metrics
* Increase overall region productivity and sales efficiency that will add $1M of top line revenue and $200K of margin
* Better position the region to execute a balanced revenue portfolio, between product, AS, PS, Delivery, MS
* Increase employee satisfaction by supplying the sales and engineering teams with a resource to reduce non-selling and tactical activities that will allow them to focus on strategic opportunities.
Qualifications
* Strong analytical skill with ability to understand and communicate the meaning of the data being presented.
* Minimal supervision required, strong customer focus and command skills and is comfortable implementing change and dealing with ambiguity.
* Strong project management skills
* Knowledge of Datalinks back office systems for quoting, order entry and service delivery.
