POSITION SUMMARY:

The RCP I demonstrates basic knowledge and skill necessary to direct care appropriate to the patients served in his/her department. The RCP I demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan, assesses the patients status and interprets the information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to age-specific needs. The RCP I provides care as needed and as described in the departments policies and procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Program.

EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED: must have current / recent acute care Respiratory Therapist experience within the last 12 months. Prefer 1-year experience in an acute care facility or freestanding practice. Prefer experience in all facets of cardiopulmonary respiratory care in a major tertiary clinical referral center.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Require effective written and verbal communication skills, basic knowledge of growth and development and competence in the range of treatment required by patient' including respiratory and pulmonary. The RCP I primarily is assigned to general care areas. Duties may include all modalities offered on general care areas. Duties may include an ICU assignment, which requires modalities that are offered in the general care areas.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all hospital personnel. Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patient status, perform health care procedures and monitor the quality of patient care. Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvement and problem resolution.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Licensed by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, Nevada State license to perform arterial blood gases. Credentials by National Board of Respiratory Care (Registered or Certified), BLS.
