Job Summary: The Nurse Extern assists the professional nursing personnel by performing patient care and specific tasks under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN. Performs clerical duties. Follows policies and procedures of West Florida Hospital. Participates in the Quality Improvement process and adheres to WFH standards of behavior.

Essential Functions: The Nurse Extern will have a heavy workload - exert up to 100 lbs occasionally, and/or 50 lbs frequently, and/or 20 lbs constantly. The Nurse Intern manages stress appropriately and can make decisions under pressure, handle multiple priorities and work in areas that are confined or crowded. The minimum requirements of this position require the individual to: stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, perform repetitive tasks, write, push, and pull frequently with weight limits of 50 lbs or greater.

Attendance is essential to this role.

Qualifications

Education: Current enrollment in an RN program is required; completion of the first medical/surgical class is required.

Experience: None required. A minimum of one (1) year of hospital experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities: Organizational, customer service, and communication skills in a detail-oriented, customer-focused organization are required. Basic computer skills are required. Ability to follow verbal instructions and comprehend written instructions is required.
