Controls & Robotics Engineer
Our electric future is now! Factory ZERO is an automotive assembly plant at the cutting edge of product and manufacturing processes. Job Title: Controls & Robotics Engineer
Factory ZERO is currently seeking motivated and accomplished Control Engineers & Robotic Engineers in support of production departments (Body, Paint, GA, GPS) and manufacturing engineering.
This position is available to 6th & 7th Level
While working in Manufacturing Maintenance, you will be responsible for operations, maintenance and repair of plant equipment. Work requires the ability to make decisions based on established procedure. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Use of independent judgement. May involve training others.
Responsibilities
* Ensures safe work practices are the highest priority and implements objectives for ergonomics, health/safety and housekeeping
* Provides technical support and direction to other dept and HQ controls engineers, IT and support personnel/skilled trades
* Investigates and root cause system and equipment problems and provides technical input on problem resolution
* Strong project management skills
* Strong communication skills
* Develop cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for project activity
* Coordinates with area manufacturing engineers on process and equipment planning, including model change, throughput, sourcing, etc.
* Support GMS and Quality Network implementation initiatives
* Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems
* Maintains good working relationships with all team members, supplier community and interfaces with necessary support functions outside of the assembly plant
* Develops and monitors planning timetables and projects schedules
* Coordinates and communicates the development of changes to improve conditions for the assembly process
* Programming of manufacturing technology
* Analyzes product, process and technology to determine the best methods of manufacture
* Assists in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes
* Assists maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment
* Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
Qualifications
Required
* 3+ years of experience programming & maintaining FANUC Robots and or Manufacturing Control Systems
* Ability to implement and drive compliance to Workplace Safety Systems
* Hold themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and creates a winning culture
* Advanced project management skills
* Highly organized
* Ability to work under pressure
* Ability to adhere to strict schedules and budgets
* Able to work independently and within a team

* Oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience

* Must be willing to work any shift and extended hours from time to time

Maintains proficiency in their field
Preferred
* FANUC Robotics Programming (Paint Robots and or Body Shop Robots)
* SCA Controls & Dispensing Equipment
* Intimate knowledge of automotive tooling and manufacturing assembly processes
* Broad industrial controls and automation knowledge as it relates to automotive assembly plant
* Proficient in Rockwell ControlLogix platform and RSLogix 5000.
* Proficient in Rockwell EtherNET IP architecture and configuration
* Proficient in Rockwell DeviceNET architecture and configuration
* Proficient SIMATIC Siemens HMI experience development
* VFD experience (PowerFlex 700, 755, ArmourStarts)
* Vision error proofing experience (Matrox or Banner Cameras)
* Knowledge of ANDON and error proofing systems as it relates to General Motors systems
* Knowledge of power and free, COE, skid, SKUK, power roll based conveyor systems and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) mechanically, pneumatically, electrically and controls;
* Knowledge of process controls as it relates to fluid fills (brake, radiator, fuel, etc)
* Proficient with AutoCad
