Job Description
California Senior Corporate Counsel
Position Purpose:
Provide legal advice and services including advising management concerning state and federal legislation, regulations and other requirements applicable to Centene business activities and initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
* Serve as a lead resource to Centene departments and entities for research and interpretation of specific healthcare law, policies and regulations
* Provide legal advice to Centene entities to define and develop solutions to regulatory requirements that impact various product lines and programs
* Review regulations, RFPs and other documents to identify regulatory risks and opportunities.
* Assess and translate complex legislation, rules and regulations into understandable and actionable information
* Review, draft and negotiate contracts, policies and procedures and other documents
* Act as lead counsel on projects and matters
* Manage outside counsel and direct, monitor and develop legal strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with provider contracts
* Should have California law experience
Education/Experience:
Graduate of an accredited law school and admitted into a state bar. 7+ years of experience in the areas of corporate or health law. Experience with government contract law, health law and managed care preferred. Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid insurance, state insurance and HMO regulations preferred.
License/Certification:
State Bar and currently in good standing.
