Job Description

The Community Counselor creates a safe environment for patients, saves lives when necessary, provides hope, empowers patients, and teaches new tools for coping to patients. The Community Counselor provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma with 1 year relevant experience in the psychiatric field. One-year experience working with a psychiatric patient population preferred. Successful completion of ACE testing. Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training.
